The Diocese of Mpumalanga
The Diocesan vision is “To know Jesus and make him known”. The ultimate goal to attaining this vision is “To have parish leadership adequately equipped and empowered for ministry and mission”. In order to achieve this final objective, a whole number of intermediate steps have been identified. Parishes in the Diocese will move along with these intermediate steps towards the key objective over the next number of years.
One of the first objectives was to underpin all the work in the Diocese with prayer, so the following Diocesan Vision Prayer was written and is prayed at least every Sunday in all parish churches:
Heavenly Father,
pour the power of your Holy Spirit upon us,
both Clergy and Laity,
that we may be adequately equipped and
empowered for effective ministry and mission.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
